Referral  Pathways & Payment Options

There are several options available to access a psychologist at Towards Optimism Psychological Services. The option that is right for you will vary depending on your personal circumstances and why you would like to see a psychologist. The options currently available are:

Self Funded  Referrals

You do not need a referral to access a psychologist. You can simply contact us and make an appointment. Self-funded referrals are not restricted by number of sessions.

Full payment will be required on the day of the appointment.

Private Health Benefits Rebates

If you have private health insurance your provider may provide a rebate. If, and how much, your private health insurance will cover is dependent on you individual policy. It is recommended that you contact them to discuss what rebates you may be eligible for on your policy.

If you are eligible to a rebate, you will only  need to pay the Gap fee on day of the appointment.

Medicare for Psychological Services

There are approved Medicare rebates for psychological services under the Better Access to Mental Health Scheme introduced by the Australian Government. Most commonly this requires a valid Mental Health Care Plan (your referral) to be completed by your GP.

A valid Mental Health Care Plan will provide a rebate for up to 10 sessions within a 12 month period.  For more information contact us or visit http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/mental-ba-fact-pat

Please note that full payment is required on the day. Medicare claims for the rebate will be lodged at the time of payment.

National Disability Insurance Scheme

Alexandra and Erin provide psychological services to NDIS participants who are Self Funded or Plan Managed.  We are unable to provide services to participants with funds managed by NDIA.
