ALEXANDRA WILSDON
ALEXANDRA WILSDON

Alexandra Wilsdon completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at Flinders University and is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and a Fellow of the Clinical College of the Australian Psychological Society.

Alexandra has worked in multiple settings both in Australia and in the United Kingdom. She has experience working across the lifespan and in hospital, outpatient, rural and private areas.

Alexandra has experience working with complex psychological difficulties, including;

  • Mood and adjustment disorders (e.g., depression, bipolar, anxiety disorders)

  • Complex mental health (e.g., Schizophrenia, Psychosis, Medically Unexplained Symptoms)

  • Grief and Trauma (including PTSD)

  • Childhood social, emotional, educational assessments

  • Parenting education and support for challenging childhood behaviours

Alexandra has provided both individual and group therapeutic interventions. In practice she uses a variety of therapy modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Metacognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Attachment-Based Interventions, Mindfulness and various Stress Management Strategies to provide individualised therapy to the specific needs of her clients. 

When Alex is not working with clients, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing with her dog, and trying different foods. She is also continuing her learning journey through studying a Graduate Diploma in Neuroscience and Education.

Erin Lear completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of South Australia, and is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Erin has worked in multiple settings with children, families and adults. She has experience working with complex psychological difficulties, including;

  • Mood disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety and bipolar disorders)

  • Personality Disorders (e.g. borderline personality disorder)

  • Substance use disorders

  • Grief and trauma (including post-traumatic stress disorder)

  • Parenting education and support for challenging childhood behaviours

 

Erin is an eclectic clinician using evidence-based therapeutic modalities to treat psychological difficulties across the lifespan. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Relaxation and Stress Management Strategies, as well as Attachment-Based Parenting Interventions and Psychotherapy.

When Erin is not working with her clients, she enjoys spending time in her garden, exploring the outdoors with her Kelpie sidekick, and whipping up a storm in her kitchen.

DR MATT CONDIE

Dr. Matt Condie is an Australian-trained and based clinical psychologist with a Doctorate in Sport and Performance Psychology. He is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) and a United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) sport psychology registry member and a service provider to the Australian Institute of Sport Mental Health Referral Network and AFL Players Association. Matt works with several universities in clinical and sport psychology, conducting contemporary research in these areas. He consults with individuals and teams from community-level participation to high-performance, Olympic and national-level competitions. He also consults as an expert member of Google’s global resilience and well-being initiative.

Throughout his career, Matt has held several key roles in clinical psychology including youth and adult mental health, emergency psychiatric services, perinatal and infant mental health and refugee mental health both in Australia and abroad. He has experience in:

  • Mood & adjustment disorders

  • Identity, transitions and performance

  • Grief and trauma

  • Parenting education and support

  • Neurodiversity (ADHD & ASD)

Matt uses an individualised and tailored approach to his work to support a balanced, resilient and successful individual. Matt balances autonomy with accountability, focusing on respecting the relationship, education, skill acquisition, and reflective practice to foster self-awareness.

Outside of Towards Optimism Psychological Services, Matt enjoys spending time with his friends and family, playing sport and appreciating the many amazing outdoor experiences that Adelaide has to offer.

Alex  is a key member of our team and is likely to be one of your first point of contact with our clinic. Alex has a very warm and responsive approach to her job, and is happy to communicate via phone or email. She makes every effort to understand your needs and treats everyone as an individual. Alex has a broad understanding of our clinic structures and policies, so is very capable of answering any of your initial queries or concerns. Alex works very closely with Directors, Alexandra Wilsdon & Erin Lear, to ensure that your needs are well matched to the treating clinician.

Alex has worked in the health sector for 5+ years and also holds a Certificate III in Community Services. Alex also has personal experience with psychology services and knows how it affects daily lives, families and loves ones. All of which has allowed her to learn and adopt her compassionate attitude towards our clients and their support networks.
